Mini Recharged: It’s wheel funky

The Wheel Specialist in Ribble Valley has refurbished the wheels on one of the funkiest looking little cars you'll ever see. This work was part of a unique project by Mini as part of their "Mini Recharged" series.

London-based artist Lakwena was the brainchild behind this particular design, drawing inspiration from her hometown's bustling streets and markets.

One artist's vision started with a piece of paper and was brought to life by, among others, The Wheel Specialist, who were able to customise the alloys on this 1986 Mini. Eye-catching colours and retro vibes were the order of the day for this Italian Job meets 80s pop-culture creation.

Lakwena's Mini was the second project in the recharged series, the first being a collaboration with British designer Paul Smith who has a decades-long design career. Notably, Paul designed some of the suits used in the Men In Black films.

We can't wait to see what's next for the recharged series.

The Wheel Specialist are thrilled to have been able to help Lakwena's vision become a reality!
