Why we're bringing the network together more often
On Saturday 22nd August we held a national meeting online, the whole of The Wheel Specialist network in one virtual room. It is something we want to do far more of, and I want to explain why.
For years, the one time we all got together properly was the Annual Conference. Those days are always ones I look forward to. There is nothing quite like having every franchisee in the same place, sharing what is working, comparing notes, and leaving with a clearer picture of the year ahead. We send newsletters, we broadcast updates, and The Hub is in regular contact with branches all year round. But once a year, together, was never going to be enough.
So we have decided to run national meetings throughout the year, each one built around a single area of the business. We take one part of what our franchisees do, look hard at how we can improve it, talk honestly about the problems we face, and agree the actions that follow: what each franchisee should be looking to do, and what The Hub will do alongside them.
The meeting on 22nd August followed exactly that pattern. We picked one area, worked through it together, and came away with clear actions on both sides.
These meetings sit alongside the close work we already do with each branch. We hold full one-to-one sessions with individual franchisees, going right into their business plan and their goals, and we work on their business with them through the year. The national meetings build on that: they bring the whole network together to go deep on one area at a time, so every branch gains from the same thinking at once.
A large part of what makes these sessions worthwhile is data. More of it is being produced across the network than ever, and it gives us real insight close to real time. We can be reactive when something needs attention quickly, and proactive when we can see an opportunity coming. Through all of it, two things stay front of mind: protecting the brand we have all built, and the individual success of every single franchisee. Both matter enormously, and neither is up for negotiation.
Underneath every one of these meetings sit the questions The Hub keeps asking itself. As a Head Office, we believe we have a handful of jobs we should be working at continually:
How do we protect our brand and hold the high quality our customers expect?
How can we save our franchisees money?
How can we help each franchisee grow their sales?
How can we save them time in their day to day?
If what we bring to a national meeting does not move at least one of those forward, it is not worth the time. Our job is to turn the data and the discussion into solid, practical information a franchisee can act on in their own business. How that plays out will always depend on the branch, but our part is to make sure the guidance and the support are there.
We will be running more of these meetings, more regularly. The Annual Conference is not going anywhere, but it now has good company. Bringing the network together to focus, to solve real problems and to leave with clear actions is exactly the kind of support we want to be known for.
We do nothing but wheels, and nobody in this market knows them better. The more often we get the network together to sharpen how we do it, the stronger every branch becomes.
